HIGH ABRASION RESISTANCE VERSUS HIGH IMPACT STRENGTH

You may have already wondered why we offer two different sustainable polyurethane casting compounds, duranity and duranity flex, and when you should use which material. Our very first finished product was duranity, GM 1914. This is our standard product, where we focused on maximum abrasion resistance and sustainability. The material is great, precisely because of its hard properties, which make the finished climbing hold durable and stable. Over time, it has become clear in practice that large holds, some of which also have very thin tapered tips, can break if hit. Logical, because:

The harder the material, the less flexible it is and the faster it can break. For this reason, we have developed duranity flex, GM 2310. This product has a higher impact strength and can therefore withstand greater stress, such as an impact or additional screwing, very well.

Conclusion:

For shapes that taper off very thinly, where the geometry is critical, I recommend duranity flex. For footholds or small handles that are subject to high loads, I would rather go for duranity - simply for maximum performance.

Maybe this will help you. If in doubt, please contact me. We will then clarify your exact needs and decide together which casting compound is best for your climbing holds.

Best regards

Clemens
